Your freebie is the first thing prospects see when they come to your web site. And they will decide in a matter of seconds if you have something they really want. Let’s be real, with all of the people marketing out there, most people do not want to sign up to be on yet another person’s list, getting bombarded with e-mails.
Ultimately, you should have a freebie that makes people want to give you their name and e-mail address immediately! The problem is, most people don’t know how to do that. And prospects click past your freebie.
Yet, I talk to so many authors, speakers and coaches who can’t understand why they have such a small list. And you know what they say, the money is in the list! But first, you have to get people on your list. And the best way to do that is with an irresistible freebie.
The problem is, most people don’t know how to create an irresistible freebie.
THE "OPRAH" MISTAKE THAT LED
ME TO MY A-HA MOMENT
In my coaching career I’ve been really blessed to have received some press from some major media outlets like NPR, Essence magazine, BET and even Oprah.com. A few years ago, when I was in the personal development field I had a web site that was featured on Oprah.com. People flooded my inbox for more information. And guess what? I didn’t have it. I didn’t have a freebie ready. Even though many people e-mailed me, I didn’t have a freebie to capture them onto my list and that experienced caused me to develop a formula to create an irresistible freebie that I meant for myself, but has now become the core of the system I now teach to other coaches in my trainings.
Through this, I discovered I had a love for marketing.
Since then, I’ve been blessed to work on the marketing teams of Glaxo Smith Kline and Bank of America and many other national brands working on multi-million dollar marketing campaigns. Now the bulk of my work focuses on creating marketing incentives like freebies.
FREEBIES CAN DOUBLE
It’s getting harder and harder to get people on your free teleclass. That's why you see more and more gurus like Gina Devee, Callan Rush, Bill Baren, Rich German and Milana Leshinsky giving away a downloadable freebie before you opt-in for their free webinar. Why? Because it DOUBLES their opt-ins! Which is why you should be using an irresistible freebie as a part of your launch sequence for your free webinars.
Why does this work? Freebies offer INSTANT GRATIFICATION. Freebies make it easy for your prospect to give you an initial 'Yes.'
Imagine having an irresistible freebie that helps you stand out and capture more prospects in JV Giveaways. Or when you are presented at places where you can't sell, like media interviews or speaking engagements or telesummits.
The problem is, most authors, speakers and coaches struggle to come up with an irresistible freebie and end up producing a freebie that REPELS their prospect from opting in. That's why I've created the Irresistible Freebie Formula so that you can have the PERFECT freebie everytime you need one.
Unfortunately, there are 2 MAJOR mistakes I see coaches make with their freebies that sabotage their sales funnel.
1. MISTAKE 1: Burying the call-to-action in the last paragraph of freebie. If you're doing this, prospects will not take the next step with you. When I send my freebies out into the world, more than 70% of the people IMMEDIATELY contact me about an appointment or about my services and products because I have a really strong call to action. You can do the same if you have the right steps in place.
2. MISTAKE 2: Did you know that even if you have an irresistible freebie using the tips I gave you, almost HALF of them will unsubscribe within MINUTES? Why is that? Because they don't want to be on another person's email list. Unfortunately, I see coaches, authors and speakers make the mistake of thinking their ezine or newsletter is enough to prevent this from happening. Unfortunately, it's not. Why? Because ezine and newsletters can not offer the instant gratification that a freebie can. Besides, you need to know how to prevent them from unsubscribing within the first few minutes BEFORE you start sending them your ezine or newsletter.
When I give out freebies, I retain more than 80% of the people on my list because of 1 line that I add to the copy of the email I send to them with the freebie. Because 90% of coaches fail to do this, more than 50% of their prospects UNSUBSCRIBE within minutes!
