Last week, I went over the importance of: surveying your niche, not buying shiny objects and sequencing in our "Before you throw in the entrepreneurial towel" 3-part series. This week, I’m going to show you the KEY to selling yourself in your written communication and what you need to know to connect with influential people for your business.
• KNOW THY BRAND: This one often goes overlooked, but is EXTREMELY important. A branding expert will help you get clear on the DELIVERY of your message. I have learned that all of your passion about your niche means nothing if the way that you deliver your message (the brand) is vague about the SPECIFIC outcome, and does not convey HUNGER and DESIRE in your prospect to want to choose YOU out of the thousands of entrepreneurs out there. • GET A COPYWRITER: Can a prospect say you, "You had them a ‘hello?" I'm a writer by trade, but I'm not a copywriter. I cannot OVERSTATE the IMPORTANCE of hiring a direct response copywriter to create the written message for both the e-mail and sales copy for your product. We think we know what to say, but we really don't because we're simply too close to our own product/service. If you’re on a budget, try oDesk.
• BEFORE YOU HIRE YOUR NEXT COACH: The next coach you hire should be a coach with a PROVEN track record (testimonials/case studies) with connections to other coaches with a proven track record. I have personally found that this is by far one of the BEST ways to get connected and introduced to other people who have responsive lists. And what are responsive lists? List of people who have previously purchased products in your field.
• PARTNER WITH THE BEST: Before you launch another product/service, reach out to influential people in your field to see if they are willing to BOTH endorse and mail out promotion to their e-mail list. This will ensure that you get maximum exposure. But, don’t make this one-sided. Ask them how you can help THEM.
