So, I just completed my FIRST 30-day juice fast. Usually my fasts last no more than 5-7 days. But this time around, I wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone to see how far I could go. Some of you may recall, I did a 5-day fast in October. For the past decade, I've made it a habit to fast anywhere from 2-4 times a year to clean out my body and get more centered.
Well, this time around, I wanted to kick off the year strong, and set an intention to fast as long as I could. I set a few goals centered around what I wanted spiritually, emotionally and professionally in my life. There were definitely a few days I had a "hunger fit" and wanted to quit. On those days, I had to do some extra juicing to kill my appetite. However, for the most part, I felt awesome! And mostly NOT hungry for about 80% of the fast.
During this fast, I paid particular attention to my thoughts. On the days I was ravenous, I found I was either: bored, lonely or angry about something going on in my life. Somehow, I had neglected my social life while running my business. Fortunately, I recognized the symptoms of my condition immediately! Turns out, I had whittled my way into a COMFORT ZONE. I knew I had to act fast before the next phase set in: hopelessness and complacency.
This all put me on a quest to get out of my comfort zone. To do that, I IMMEDIATELY set up some time to visit a few spots around the city I had on my to do list, but never got around to, like the Barnes Foundation, an AMAZING Philadelphia art gallery that hosts performances on Sundays. Then I phoned some girlfriends to co-host a Vision Board party with me, where me and a house full of friends jammed to an eclectic spin of music while creating pictorial goals of things we wanted to accomplish in 2014 (see pic, I'm in red). Creatively, I was VERY active during this fast and wrote an entire program for my next launch. And was on the phone almost daily to connect with partners I could bring on board for its release.
The results? The Vision Board party was an epic SUCCESS! We started a Facebook group to continue the momentum of the event and to help each other with our goals. And I was able to secure more than 20 partners for my program's launch Feb. 6 to help entrepreneurs very quickly and easily reach hundreds in their niche! Click here to check it out! In addition, I was invited to speak on a telesummit with some of the BIGGEST names in the marketing world like Loral Langemeir, Clint Arthur, Milana Leshinsky, and Rich German, to name a few... but more about that in a later post....
Believe it or not, I had not realized I had accomplished so much until I looked back at my journal entries from the past month and saw I had met many of the goals on my list during the fast! Evidently, the 30-day fast was just what I needed to get out of my comfort zone and get my life back on track!
Are you in a comfort zone? Would you recognize the symptoms? If you can relate to my experience, perhaps it’s time to incorporate some new tools to get out of your comfort zone.
